Digital Democracy Website Design

Polity Cooperative is a collectively owned and governed platform that helps governments, community organizations, and conveners make decisions together. Organizations can use Polity as clients or join the co-op as members. GrafikaVision designed the new Polity website at polity.coop, with the goal of making a complex idea feel clear, welcoming, and trustworthy.

The visual system is built around overlapping circles in warm orange, slate grey, and soft neutrals. Each circle stands for a voice, and where they overlap, shared ground appears. This idea carries across the site, from the homepage hero graphic to the membership page, so the message reads at a glance: many perspectives, one decision.

To explain how the platform works, GrafikaVision created custom line icons for Polity’s five core features: Engagement Hub, Standing Participant Groups, Repeatable Decision Cycles, Engagement Templates, and Shared Engagement Data. Built from circles, dots, and connecting lines, the icons turn abstract processes into simple visual stories. Audience illustrations for governments, community-serving organizations, and conveners help each visitor quickly see where they fit.

The layout uses bold headlines, generous white space, and a clear path from Solutions to Membership to Contact. The site is fully responsive, so it reads as well on a phone as on a desktop. Overall, this project brings together web design, UI design, and icon design for a mission-driven cooperative. The result is a website that makes participatory democracy feel approachable.
